Chance

Handsome Chance is looking for his new home and he has allot to offer the right family ! This cute little guy is about 2-3 yrs old and is a brindle bundle of love, his favorite thing to do is wake his foster mom up with Pit Bull snorts and smiles, he will sneak in to bed and roll over on his back with his feet in the air waiting for a belly scratch.

Chance is fully house trained and knows not only his basics but he walks really well on a leash ! He is fine left alone while his foster mom goes to work and never touches anything that isnt his and when she gets home he greets her with a big smile.  Chance is a high energy dog and would make a great jogging partner, Chance is also a huge water dog ! and not only does he enjoy swimming and fetching but he loves to dive under the water for sticks ! He also loves to race around and play fetch and especially likes a good game of Tug ! so an active home would be best for this guy, even with his love of play Chance is really good wth Children and is super happy when he is around them But dont get this guy wrong in the house he  is very calm and relaxed.

Chance is also good with dogs though he can get excited to meet them so he will need a firm – fair handler to help him learn the correct way to interact and play, his play style is typical of most Pit Bulls and could get him into trouble with a dog who doesnt undersand their rough and tumble play.

Please open your heart and home to this loveable, cute boy !

Tank !

Meet Tank !

He is a big headed bundle of love just waiting to snuggle his way into your life, Tank is a young adult dog, we think around 2 yrs old and he has been learning the ways of the real work since coming into our program, before finding his way to HugABull Tank spent his life tied out on a chain with no one to love, now that he is living the good life he is making up for lost time, he loves nothing more than to snuggle with his human and dog family and will drag himself across your lap, the floor, bed or anything else with a doopey happy look on his face. Sunday sleep in’s are his favorite.

Tank has no seperation anxiety and is fully house trained, he is great with his foster brother so a home with or with out dogs would be fine, he is super interested in the small furries so no cats for this guy. Tank is a rock star in the house and his foster mom calls him “momma’s little helper” because he happily follows her everywhere, he knows his basics and is so eager to please, he does still need help with his leash manners as he gets excited to see other dogs outside as he wants very baddley to say HI ! Tank would benifit from an obediance class to help his focus  and he needs a firm, fair handler to keep him in line.

Tank is a medium energy guy who is happy with a couple of walks, some wrestling time with his foster brother and a good long snuggle fest to end the day, if you think Tank is the dog for you please fill out an application asap as dogs like this guy dont last long !

Kayto Potato

Alert! Northern B.C. boy looking for a home. If you live near Prince George or if you’re willing to take a road trip to meet this gorgeous 3 year old boy, you’ll find you’ve traded a few extra kilometres on your car for a devoted companion for life.

Kayto is a very affectionate dog, who loves to goof around almost as much as he loves a good cuddle. He will find a way to curl up on your lap – even if he is bigger than your lap. He has lots of energy and can be a very determined dog, so an active owner who can provide Kayto with structure and routine would suit him best. Kayto’s loves to play with other dogs, but sometimes his excitement can get the better of him so he’ll need to practice his social skills.

Kayto loves to go for walks or runs, and he will go for as long as you can bear. Kayto was a bit hesitant around water at first, but once he gets in he loves it, splashing with his front paws and eating the splashes as he goes. Kayto’s easy to take along with you on any adventure as he loves car rides.

Having this big lug around is sure to provide lots of laughs — Kayto loves to sleep belly up with his feet in the air. When he is excited, he gets the “zoomies” that pitties are famous for, with bucking bronco-like motions and a big grin.

If you’re interested in meeting Kayto, please fill out an adoption application!

Shadow!

Not everyone is looking for a rambunctious ball of puppy energy – to those who appreciate a slower pace we’d like to introduce Shadow, a lovely and mannerly senior. At 12 years old, Shadow is well into his golden years and believes a warm bed, a good meal and the company of his people is all you need to be truly happy!

Shadow is a sweet, easy companion and would be a great fit for someone who works out of the full-time or wants a hassle-free dog to take to work. If left alone in the house he might complain at first, but he quickly settles down, especially once he’s settled into his person’s routine.

HugABull health-tests all seniors in the program, and Shadow has a clean bill of health for a man his age. He has some hearing loss and some creaky joints, but this doesn’t impact his enjoyment of life. He lives for food and treats, and loves to lie outside with his belly soaking up the sun. While his energy level is low he does appreciate a good ramble and sniff session around the park, and will perk up and get playful if a squirrel taunts him or his favourite plastic egg toy comes out.

Shadow is gentle with kids, dogs, and other animals (well, except squirrels!). He would be fine in almost any environment – even a busy city centre as noises doesn’t bother him and he’s an even-tempered boy by nature. However, it may be best to avoid a living space with too many stairs due to his elderly joints.

Like many seniors, Shadow is a ready made pet. He would be a great first time dog and an easy addition to a home, especially one where his people value some couch-time over a game of fetch.

Seal!

Seal is an adorable blue-grey charmer with an exuberant personality and a desire to please. Cuddly and affectionate, Seal loves nothing better than snuggling into his person’s lap after a good frolic with some toys.

Seal loves to walk and has the energy to make a good jogging partner. Lovable and outgoing, he’s friendly to everyone he meets – and many people stop to admire his beautiful blue coat and smiley face. Seeing other dogs on a walk causes some excitement for him, but his focus can be easily redirected.  When introduced to canine friends slowly and properly, he plays well with other dogs. Like many dogs, he has a prey drive when it comes to cats, crows, squirrels and other little furry animals, but with work he’s been building confidence and staying calm. An experienced owner who is calm and alert would help Seal become even more confident and at ease on walks.

Seal is very smart and very food-motivated so he is quite trainable – he’ll do anything for treats. Combine this with his playful jumping and catching abilities and Seal also has a lot of potential to be an agility dog. Seal listens well and responds to the commands he’s learned.

Seal is house-trained and not much of a barker, except when passers-by outside make a lot of noise. He likes the car and generally enjoys going anywhere his people go. If you think you can provide this handsome charmer with his forever home, please fill out an adoption form.

Simba – a little character!

Simba may share her name with a famous lion, but she looks just like a tiger…the wriggliest, kissiest, most playful tiger you’ve ever imagined! This adoptable may have the most unique colouring we’ve ever seen: orange and black tiger stripes on her back with a pure white face and belly. Be prepared to turn heads when you walk this little stunner down the street.

Simba’s personality is just as striking: sweet, affectionate, playful and well-mannered in the house. She absolutely adores people and making new human friends of all ages.

Second on Simba’s list of favourites is TOYS. Whether they’re squeaky, fluffy, or bouncy, she will wiggle, wag, and prance around the house with. She loves playing keep-away and tug, but will immediately surrender her treasure if you ask her to.

At around six years old, Simba is mature and well-mannered. While she can be very active and is always up for a run or intense session of fetch, she has an “off” switch once she’s had her daily exercise and is happy to stare out the window or laze around with her human. She’s also very intelligent and loves doing obedience work for treats.

Simba has some challenges

when it comes to other animals. She currently lives with a cat and does well when it is calm, but she would definitely be inclined to chase a nervous cat. Simba is very anxious around other dogs, as she was probably never socialized with them. She will sometimes get tense and bark when she sees one, but she is not aggressive, and does well with a calm handler who will re-direct her focus. Her owner will need to be patient with her and continue with distraction training and positive methods so that she learns that other dogs aren’t scary. She is already making great progress and will continue to do so – she even came on a HugABull group walk recently and did great!

Her sweet personality, great manners, and playful nature will more than compensate for any training Simba needs. She is house-trained, crate-trained, has minimal separation anxiety. She is one of those dogs that bonds quickly with her human, and wants to be anywhere you are. If you happen to be seated, she may just come over and lay her stripey head on your lap until you send her away.

If you find Simba as cute and irresistible as we do, fill out an application form today.

Sweet Scarlet

Sweet Scarlet is a gentle and loving dog that will win your heart if you take the time to earn hers. Unlike the famed ‘Gone With the Wind’ Scarlet, this 1-2 year old red beauty is no drama queen, shunning the spotlight to instead get to know you slowly and quietly. Anyone who takes the time to get to know this little stunner will be rewarded with her sweet, undivided attention.

Scarlet is a trooper, learning to manoeuvre on just three legs having after having her front left leg amputated due to an infection that went untreated.  Every day she is improving, learning to walk and balance on three legs. She loves to walk but not too far while she’s getting used to her new way of being. But when she is around her doggie friends at her foster mom’s doggie daycare, she does her best to romp and play like she’s got all four legs! She is super dog social and has no trouble meeting new dogs, greeting them with a lopsided wiggle-bum.

An owner who recognizes and appreciates Scarlet’s gentle, sensitive nature will reap the rewards that this dog can give in her loyalty and affection. Scarlet would do well in a house or a condo in a quieter area with an owner who provided her with the love she deserves.  A busy urban environment might be too overwhelming for Scarlet. She would do well with older children and could learn to live with younger ones, but younger children would need to learn how to treat this sensitive soul gently as she isn’t your rough-and-tumble kind of dog. Other dogs would be fine – she loves her doggie friends! And for training, harsh correction won’t do – this girl responds beautifully to affection, treats and praise, praise, praise.

A gentle soul, Scarlet is a mellow girl indoors but very puppyish in her play and in the affection she gives her foster mom. She loves her toys but isn’t quite sure how to play with people yet. She takes a little while to warm up to people, particularly men, and needs someone to take an interest in her, pay attention to her and gain her trust. Once you give her a little time and love, Scarlet will reward you in spades by showing you what a loyal lovebug she can be.

Reese – Coming Soon!

Reese, just like the candy that shares his name, is a whole lot of sweetness packed into a small package. This fun-loving and athletic boy is really enjoying his new lease on life outside the shelter system. He craves human attention and loves kids, but might be a bit overwhelming for little ones as he just wants to kiss, wiggle and play. Reese loves walking, running, swimming, tug-o-war and especially fetch –anything that involves people. But if no one’s around, he’ll stalk and pounce on toys all by himself!

Crate trained and housebroken (with the occasional lapse), Reese is working on his leash manners and focus so continued coaching in these areas will put this playful puppy-wannabe on the road to Super Dog-ness! A training routine that involves plenty of praise with a smattering of treats will be a winner with him. Reese just about wiggles right off his feet when he knows he’s done well. Although he can be vocal meeting dogs in the street, he’s a social butterfly off leash and thoroughly enjoys doggie daycare -one of the few times we’ve seen him tired!

Watch Reese and another adoptable, Scarlet, play at Dizine Canine!

The silly boy isn’t just food-motivated – he’s VERY belly rub motivated. Reese will flop belly-up in front of you and look at you with his big puppy dog eyes, or come to stand over your feet and slowly lower himself until you make contact with his underside and provide a few scratches. He’s impossible to resist and sure to keep you in stitches.

Mira – Adoption Pending!

Lovely Mira is a 5 year old girl who loves to be with people. Mature and friendly, Mira greets her foster family with a full-body wag when they come home. A backyard is a must for this athletic and energetic girl. Mira loves being outdoors and loves to swim. Every evening when the weather cools down a bit, Mira has a hilarious “mad moment” where she runs at top speed around the yard, tossing her toys in the air and catching them in her mouth! But even with all that energy, Mira has a definite “off-switch” as she is calm and polite in the house with her foster people. She’s loyal as can be, selecting her favourite person of the day and following them from spot to spot, then settling down with them wherever they are. She sleeps next to her people and will stay asleep until they’re ready to get up, snoring contentedly all the while.

Considering Mira’s love of the outdoors, it’s no surprise that Mira loves her walks and is starting to become a running dog. Mira could use a bit of work on her leash manners and can get a little excited when she sees smaller dogs, but a calm and attentive owner will be able to help her improve her leash manners. Because she’s so devoted to people, she does experience some separation anxiety, and her foster family is helping her learn to be alone gradually, with short planned departures. Mira would love a house with a doggie brother to play with and is okay with cats and other animals. If you think you can provide Mira with the love and attention she so deserves, please fill out an adoption application.

Betty – Adoption Pending!

It’s impossible not to love Betty. At only 14 weeks old, Betty embodies all the best puppy traits– snugly, cuddly, playful, cheeky, confident and CU-UTE! With her gorgeous red brindle colouring and her sweet puppy eyes, we hope it won’t belong before she finds her forever home.

Little Betty is working on her housetraining and now makes noises when she wants to go out. Like all puppies, she’ll need a home where her owners will give her lots of love, attention and training. She’ll need boundaries and someone to help her develop her manners. And most importantly, she’ll need lots of time to learn how to be a great dog, and a home where she won’t be left alone for extended periods of time.

A typical puppy, Betty does well with everybody and is a joy to have around. Adults, kids, dogs – she’ll be fine. She’s curious about the littler animals like cats, squirrels and birds, but she could likely live with a resident cat if introduced at this young age.

Rosie – Adoption Pending

Adorable baby Rosie is a six-month-old girl who’s full of life and always on the go. She’s super eager to please and will be a great addition to any home that’s ready for all the fun, love and excitement that puppies bring.

With her joyful demeanour, you’d never be able to guess that Rosie has had a tougher go of life than most toddlers. One of the puppies taken in by Hugabull after more than 20 dogs were seized from one property in Surrey, Rosie came to Hugabull with severe mange. Fortunately, one of our amazing foster homes stepped up and provided Rosie with the love, healing and care she needed. Today, Rosie is thriving and looking for her forever home.

Despite her tough beginnings, Rosie is a confident, outgoing pup who loves everyone! Rosie will melt your heart with her playfulness and sweet, squishy puppy face. She loves her toys and will carry them around with her all over the house.

Your browser may not support display of this image. Like all young pups, she gets excited easily and will need to learn not to jump up. Rosie’s been working on her housetraining and knows her basic commands, but of course will need consistency in her training. Rosie is pretty easy going but being just a baby, she won’t be able to stay alone for long periods of time and needs lots of time, attention and care to grow into a well-behaved adult.

Rosie will do well in any environment – with or without kids, with or without other pets, in a rural or urban setting. If you are looking for a happy, exuberant pup, Rosie’s your girl!

Snuggle Bug Java – Adoption Pending

This “Java” comes with cream (her colour) and sugar (her personality). True to the pit bull temperament she LOVES people and thinks she is just a big hunk of lap dog. Her favorite activity is being showered with affection – she makes the cutest happy noises including a delighted doggie purr!

A house-trained and very well-mannered girl, Java would do well with a moderately active family with or without children. Java has never been destructive or chewed anything in her current foster home – in fact, her foster family tells us they can leave their dinner on the floor and Java won’t touch it until she’s told it’s ok. So far, Java’s greatest treasures are her humans (of course), her Kongs and bully sticks, and her bed (she loves her bed and her blankies and will often choose it over the human bed).

Java is gentle and calm in most situations but as this drive-y girl likes to chase small animals and cats, those would be a no-no for her. Java also needs work on her dog-to-dog manners as she was definitely not well-socialized in her previous life. She gets very nervous and defensive around new dogs and needs slow introductions. After a calm parallel walk she is very tolerant of other dogs and doesn’t mind having them around. Her current foster parents are working on keeping her calm and focused on her handler while she’s around new dogs. Through training (combined with yummy pieces of liver) Java is making great progress.

*** Java has made great progress with her dog to dog intro’s and now has a couple of doggy friends ! She has been enjoying playing at the lake with her new friends !

Baths? Sure! Car rides? No problem! Harnesses, muzzles and haltis? Okay! This happy little wiggle-bum is up for anything, and makes a great home or travel companion. Java is so eager-to-please and happy to hang out with people that the things that cause other dogs anxiety are a breeze for her. This girl just wants a home with understanding owners who will help her learn good doggy manners, give her a warm soft bed to snooze in, and provide toys to chew and fetch. In return, she will pay her rent in smiles, cuddles, and unconditional love.

Reid! – Adopted!

Your browser may not support display of this image.

Handsome Reid is a one-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier who came to a Hugabull from Bullies in Need, an Ontario rescue dedicated to the “pit bull type” dogs who face euthanasia daily in Ontario’s shelters.

What a loss for Ontario as Reid is a laid back yet playful boy who loves attention from people and dogs. Puppyish and a bit goofy, he is happiest when anyone will give him attention. Whenever he sees a person or another dog, he crouches into a happy play-bow and starts to wiggle. Reid absolutely thrives on love and attention – and with his adorable freckles and gorgeous face, he’s pretty hard to resist!

Reid’s housetrained, crate-trained and has no separation anxiety. He loves the car and is happy going anywhere with his owners. He knows some basic commands and would do well in dog classes. Reid will be an amazing ambassador for the breed.

Your browser may not support display of this image. Reid would do well in any home environment. Kids? Love ‘em! Cats? No problem. Dogs? Absolutely! Reid is especially great with other dogs and he would be a great little buddy to a resident dog (Need proof? See his snugly picture with hisformer foster sister). Reid’s such a nice, gentle dog with a great temperament, he will do well in any home with people who love him.

If you’re interested in adding Reid to your family, please fill out an adoption application

Tandy! – Adopted!

Warning: this pup is dangerous! A beautiful grey dog with a cheeky grin, Tandy will steal your lap and your heart. Example: you will think you are the boss, enforcing a “no-dogs-on-the-furniture” rule and then one day, she will blink her giant brown eyes, tilt her grey head just so, and rest her chin on your knee, and BAM! You will have a 2 year-old puppy snuggled into the spot you usually reserved for crumpled blankets or the rest of the couch. (Or you’ll maintain the “no-dogs-on-the-furniture” rule and she’s okay with that… but it’ll be harder for you!)

Though she seems a bit unsure in new surroundings, Tandy warms quickly to people. She’s a playful girl with a sense of humour and an interest in the people around her. Tandy will bounce around the room with a cheeky grin and play a game of catch, later entertaining you by spending hours sprawled next to you while snoring like a boat engine. With slow, proper introductions, she’s good with most dogs and does well hanging out with selected doggie buddies at daycare while she’s being fostered. Though her puppy-like temperament includes chewing up whatever’s within reach of her teeth when left alone for a long period of time, she does really well in a crate or x-pen. When she has to be left alone, she does just fine with no whining, barking or separation anxiety. She plays independently very well and enjoys playing with her toys in her foster family’s yard.

Tandy can fit in pretty much anywhere, and will most enjoy a house with a yard where she can play with her toys. A house with adults and maybe older children would suit her best. Training that includes lots of reward and praise suits Tandy best, but not too much correction – harsh voices make her hunker down and hide her sparkly personality.

Be warned: before you know it, Tandy will steal your heart. Your lap and your couch aren’t far behind.

If you think Tandy is the perfect dog for you please fill out an adoption application form!

Jill – Adopted !

Lovely Jill is about a year and a half old and looking for her forever home. A mellow girl with a sweet personality, Jill bonds very quickly with her people and loves nothing more than a good cuddle. And with her white and tan markings and cute freckles, she’s a stunner.

Jill has some basic obedience down and can even do a few tricks, like rolling over and shaking a paw. With a bit more training and consistency, Jill will have the basics down and could earn her Canine Good Neighbour in no time. She is so eager to please her handlers that training is a pleasure – in fact, if she thinks she’s done something wrong, she will lick her foster’s hand. Jill can be a bit timid at times but is warming up. Outside, she has good leash manners once she’s had a bit of a warm-up, and she loves to fetch and play. She has a definite “off” switch inside though, enjoying snuggles on the couch and naps.

Jill would do well in any home environment where the people give her lots of love. She’s gentle with children and good with other well-mannered dogs. She’s fully housetrained and crate-trained. Jill will bond very quickly and is a dream dog waiting for the home that can give her the love and attention she so deserves.

Jade is a True Gem – Adopted!

Jade is more than a pretty face – she is a well-mannered girl who has mastered a ton of commands (and is eager to pull out all the stops if you have a cookie in your hand!). Sit, stay, down, shake-a-paw, “go to your bed” and “wait”—this girl has them down pat! Besides knowing tricks, Jade is house, crate, and exercise-pen trained, with no separation anxiety and all her house manners.

Jade’s foster mom describes her as a very easy dog who needs very little additional training, and who is polite and loving towards everyone she’s met. Jade responds well to verbal commands and if a little motivation is order, she will do ANYTHING for food.

Supervised introductions to new dogs is necessary as her enthusiasm and “body slam” style of play isn’t appreciated by all other canines. She has doggie friends of all sizes and ages, however, and would probably love a doggie sibling to play and romp with at home. (Cats are too tempting to chase, though!)

A medium-energy dog, Jade is happy with a moderate walk or run per day, followed by some mellow time inside. She is always up for more activity and loves to walk and hike but what’s most important is being part of the family. Her handler focus is great, and with her enthusiasm for learning and hunger for goodies, Rally-O-type classes would be a natural for Jade.

This beautiful girl is pretty well move-in ready; all she needs is a loving home and a forever family to give her the time and attention she deserves. With her already strong training foundation, Jade would simply need her new family to teach her the rules and maintain clear boundaries for her. And the occasional treat wouldn’t hurt, either!

Andy- a sweet Gem! Adopted!

Dignified and mellow Andy would make a great first-time dog. Like many of the seniors in our program, he comes ready-made with beautiful manners, and it’s a shame that his age makes so many potential adopters pass him by.

Andy is around 10 years old and we can’t figure out why anyone would give him away. Worse, Andy’s first owner didn’t just surrender him…but threw him out of a moving vehicle! Luckily he had no major injuries, and we were happy to take this lovely gentleman into our program.

An enthusiastic snuggler, Andy is like many pitties: all about his people. He loves snuggles, giving kisses, and just being part of the family. His energy level is lower but he adores his walks and will carry his leash around the house with his whole bum wagging. While out and about he has lovely leash manners and is a joy to walk.

Andy is house-trained, has zero separation anxiety, and is always on his best behaviour. He doesn’t mind cats unless they deliberately provoke him and taunt him to chase. He is mostly uninterested in other dogs and has no interest in playing, though he will let out an occasinal “Woof!” when he sees one out on the street. He would do well with a calmer, mellow sibling or as an only dog – ideally no crazy youngster energy.

He’d be a great dog to take to work or have around children as he always perfectly mannered and calm. His foster mom says he’d make a wonderful apartment dog as he needs minimal exercise, is calm in the house and never barky or destructive. He loves attention and toys and is a calm, happy and easy dog to be around.

We think seniors like Andy are the best-kept secret in rescue…fill out an application form and see if he’d be a good fit for you.
