LIKE WHAT YOU SEE?

Our dogs are all spayed/neutered, vet checked and vaccinated prior to adoption. Our adoption fees range from $100 to $250, depending on the individual case. We only adopt our dogs out to loving and responsible homes!

We believe in only placing the best examples of this breed, as this will be the only way for these wonderful breeds to restore their reputation that has been so badly damaged by the media and irresponsible owners. We only place dogs with rock-solid temperaments and accept absolutely NO human aggression. We avoid placing dogs with high levels of dog aggression, or who are known escape artists. It is our goal to ensure that all dogs placed by us are both physically and mentally sound. All potential adoptive homes are thoroughly screened, as it is our wish that each dog we place will serve as a breed ambassador!

ADOPTION APPLICATION

HOLLY

Well she's waited a long time, but Holly is now ready to look for her forever home. Either Dogo Argentino or American Bulldog mix, this adorable girl turns heads wherever she goes, and her magnetic personality draws you in.

This sweet girl didn't have a promising start in life. Surrendered to a shelter at 4 months, deaf and suffering hip dysplasia, Holly's chances of adoption were slim to none. After being contacted by the shelter asking if there was anything we could do for this adorable pup, one of HugABull's directors met Holly, and soon discovered that this little girl had such a bright and shining personality, she definitely deserved a chance at good health, and a great home. The biggest challenge was finding a foster home that would commit to Holly's surgery recovery, and specialized training, knowing that it could take some time until her adoptive home came along. Well, HugABull didn't look long before a wonderful family offered to take Holly in to their home for as long as it took.

It's been a busy few months for this girl and her foster home. With the generous support of many individuals through HugABull's Lovely Fund, Holly underwent femoral head ostomy surgery on December 22, 2007. Holly's recovery has progressed well, through swimming therapy with Kendall and her staff at K9H2O, and lots of exercise with her canine foster sisters! Her recent check-up indicated that Holly is healing well, and should have a fairly active adult life once she builds up some more muscle to support her hip.

Her foster home has also started Holly in an obedience class using a flashlight instead of a clicker, and she is proving to be one smart pup. Deaf dogs make wonderful and amazing companions. Like all pups, Holly is fun loving, playful, curious, mischievous, and sometimes a little cheeky. Most of all, she's loves to be loved, and this special girl deserves a very special home.

For more information on raising a deaf dog, please visit www.deafdogs.org.

If you'd like to welcome Holly in to your home, please fill out anapplication form.

CHOOCHA

This gorgeous girl absolutely loves life! Always greets everyone with a full body wag, and if you're lucky, she just might show you her favourite toy.

Choocha is a Pit Bull, mixed with what is mostly likely Lab. She is between 8-10 months old, quiet and non-destructive when left alone, and fully housebroken. Choocha has just recovered from a minor case of mange, and is doing extremely well. She knows her basic commands, but of course would benefit from an obedience class so she can show her new owner how smart she is.

This girl would love a family of her own, and would do well in a home with children.

If you think Choocha is the dog you've been looking for, please fill out an application form.

MISSY

Missy Miss has just completed her foster holding period and what a little doll she is! Missy asked that we post the following ad up for her:

I am a Single White Female (spayed of course!), seeking my forever family in a home that will love me and cuddle me and let me entertain them with my outgoing, energetic personality. I would prefer my humans to have an active lifestyle that will include me in their adventures, whether it's going running or on hikes, to work with them sometimes if possible, or in the car to run errands...I just love to be around my peeps!

Likes: playful dogs, snuggling, squeaky toys, zooming, fine food, boundaries, routine, car rides, naps on the couch, kissing, kids, PEOPLE!

Dislikes: being confined, CATS!

I am a compact little girl, big personality in a small package. I have pretty brindle ears and only one brindle patch on my otherwise perfectly white body. I have a ton of love to give, and I think I would be a great urban/condo dog because I am such a petite pittie girl.

If you are interested in getting to know me better, and are looking for a long-term, committed relationship, please fill out an application form.

Hope to hear from you! Yours, Missy

COMING SOON! - SLIM

Slim was picked up by a good Samaritan on a roadside, running stray and starving. According to the vet, another week and this awesome little dog would not have made it. But even near death, Slim had a tail wag for everyone he met, and we knew this temperament was exactly what HugABull looks for in our pit bulls.

Now that Slim has come into HugABull's foster program, he has absolutely flourished with love, proper nutrition, and training. Slim is approximately 1.5 years old and just learning how great life can actually be. He is a smart little cookie who has mastered Sit, Shake, High 5, and is well on his way to learning his Down, Stay, and even Dancing! He is very food motivated but also very verbally correctable, wanting to work for praise from his handler. He even fetches like a rockstar, giving an Out on command and waiting for the next throw.

Slim is learning his manners regarding meeting new dogs, and we believe he will be fine to live with another dog once properly introduced. He has also learned to respect his foster home's cat under supervision so may do just fine in a house with a dog-savvy cat.

This big goofball is a happy dork who loves everyone and has found a new lease on life. Probably because of neglect in the past, Slim has some separation/confinement anxiety but is coming along as his foster home works with him on his crate training and he learns to trust that his beloved people WILL come back for him! He is currently completing his 30 day foster evaluation period before becoming available for adoption, so we will update his bio as we get to know him even better.

If you are interested in Slim, **please do not send an email**, please fill out an application form.

COURTESY LISTING - TANK

Tank is an appropriate name for this big 60 lb. boy, he really suits it. But, he is a big, lovable baby! Tank has very unique markings, cowpatch, or technically referred to as piebald. Whatever he is, he is one cuddle bun! Happy to give you his tummy for a big rub! Tank would do well in a home with strong leadership skills so he'll learn appropriate boundaries, but he sure is willing to please, and will no doubt be a faster learner.

For more information please contact Sonya at the Richmond Animal Shelter, 12071 No.5 Rd Richmond, 604-275-2036, or email to www.raps.shelter@telus.net

COURTESY LISTING - JEMI

Look out world, here comes Jemi! With her big brown eyes and super soft espresso-colored coat, Jemi is growing into a stunning dog. But she's not just a pretty package, this girl has personality too.

Jemi is a wonderful puppy, warm, gushingly affectionate, and eager to please. She's not a prissy princess dog, Jemi loves to play hard and get dirty, and would suit someone who enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle. However, she also likes to snuggle, and, while she's likely going to get too big to be a lap dog (shhh! don't tell her that!), she'd love to curl up beside you on the couch...or in bed.

Jemi appears to be about 7 months old and is a Pit Bull mix, likely with Rottweiler or Mastiff. She currently weighs just over 50lbs, and should grow a bit more yet. Jemi is fairly active, like most puppies, but as an adult dog will probably only have moderate exercise needs (a good long walk each day and throwing the ball for a bit should do). Growing up in the shelter is tough, and has put Jemi a bit behind on her training and socialization, however this girl is bright and eager, and will catch up quickly if she's given a chance. Jemi has mastered "sit", rides nicely in a car, and is mostly housebroken. Jemi gets along with other dogs, although she likes to play hard and be the "boss" in play. Jemi is also good with cats, and could live with a dog-savvy kitty.

She is sensitive and responds best to gentle authority. Her nature is very affectionate and she absolutely loves to curl up beside her human companion.

Precious has been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped and is looking for her "forever" home. Please contact her foster mom, Sue, if you would be interested in knowing more about or meeting Precious. Telephone 604-580-8889, email susanfit@shaw.ca

COURTESY LISTING - PIPPY

Pippy is 40 little pounds of adorable. Pippy is about a year old and has all the energy of a puppy. She likes dogs and people although sometimes small people scare her. She is very affectionate with her foster mom and her two canine companions, loving to curl up close with her face against your face.

Pippy has been spayed, vaccinated, and tattooed and is house trained. She is a wonderful little athlete who would be a wonder in agility classes. She has been with her foster family about 4 months but still exhibits some tail chasing anxiety. If you think this lovely little girl could be a forever part of your heart and home and you would like to know more or meet her, please contact Sue at 604-580-8889 or by email at susanfit@shaw.ca.

COURTESY LISTING - SUNNY

We believe Sunny is about 4. She is a real sweetheart and she loves her belly rubs! She is really laid back, but she doesn't get along with other dogs. However we believe that could be worked on. Sunny came to us from Hazelton Animal Control as a stray so her experience with other dogs was probably not a positive one.

COURTESY LISTING - NARONE

Narone's personality is as soft as his beautiful fawn-and-white coat. He is a gentle, affectionate dog with a lot of love to share. A genuinely nice boy, Narone is a bit reserved until he gets to know you - which doesn't take long - and then he just wants to be your best bud. He would be perfect for someone who likes a dog that is totally devoted to their owner, and who leads a quieter home life coupled with a somewhat athletic lifestyle.

Narone will politely acknowledge other people around him, but he truly simply lives and breathes to please that special one person who shows him kind handling and tlc. We don't think Narone has had much chance to show this side of his personality, because of his reserved nature in the kennels. However if you give him the chance, he will gladly cuddle up to anyone who is nice to him.

He is quiet natured, but very athletic, which actually describes him to a T; Narone won't bounce off walls with pent-up enthusiasm, but can easily keep up on a hike when enjoying the great outdoors! Narone came in to the shelter with a young female dog, so he could be all right with another female canine companion, but can be reactive with other dominant male dogs, so he should go to a large dog experienced home. Narone does pull somewhat on-leash, but since he has a good brain to match his good looks, he will learn to "heel" in no time. Car rides seem pretty new to him - he wants to drive! - but practice makes perfect. Truly, Narone has probably not had a lot of worldly experiences, and some of them probably haven't been the most positive ones at that, but this dog would blossom with a quiet home that would show him there are good people out in this world. One that gives out free belly rubs would be really great too 'cause he loves those!

If you're interested in Narone, please contact Vancouver Animal Shelter. 1280 Raymur Avenue in East Vancouver. 604-871-6885

COURTESY LISTING - PHOENIX

Phoenix is a beautiful young girl, at just over a year old. She has been in our care since the fall of 2007. Phoenix is loveable, very sweet & cuddly, and very smart. Although she is deaf, she catches on easily to "doggy sign language". Phoenix has some neurological impairments that seem not to affect her everyday health - she has undergone numerous medical tests while in our care, including an MRI; none of this shows us *why* she has neurological symptoms (head bobbing, disorientation, short attention span and some loss of balance) and after exhausting the options, Phoenix may well live a long life, and wants to be a part of that perfect family!

Phoenix would benefit from some training classes with her new family, and further socialization as she can be timid in new situations. She loves other dogs - as long as they're not too "bossy", and would make a great companion.

COURTESY LISTING - WIZZY

Wizzy is an adorable little dog who doesn't like to be in a kennel. I believe she would become best friends with whoever came to her rescue and gave her a good home. She loves to run and chase a ball and is full of energy! She needs someone with a lot of love, patience and preferably some dog training experience. It was her turn to be the office dog today and Wizzy couldn't be happier! Kennel life isn't her cup of tea, take her out and you will see a totally different dog!

Wizzy needs to go to a home with no other cats, dogs or young children as she has a very high prey drive. She is great with people and she has been here the longest.

COURTESY POSTING - DEBO

Looking for a hunka hunk of love muffin?!?! To meet Debo is to love him (not that he gives you a choice as you're getting affection from that big chocolate colored mug whether you want it or not!)

Debo is an American Bulldog mix (1 - 2 years old) who's 75 lbs of muscle and kisses. Debo is fully house and crate trained, with an eager to please nature. He is great with people of all shapes and sizes, and really adores children. Debo has an irrestible "stumpy" tail (like a Boxer) He's tattooed, microchipped and up to date on all of his shots.

Debo walks nicely on a leash, once he gets his initial beans out, and knows several general commands. He is a total couch potato around the house, but really loves to have a lot of exercise outside too. Leia, his Lab-Boxer playmate that he lives with, definitely runs the show in their wrestle matches. In his previous foster, he also got along well with a Mastiff and 2 Pit Bulls. Debo becomes overstimulated, and sometimes selectively aggressive, with select strange dogs when out and about, however does just fine with dogs in his home environment. He would be perfectly suitable as a second dog with the right combination, as long as he could have a slow introduction, as he loves to wrestle and goof around.

He has been happily living in a home for the last 8 months, but unfortunately his current situation isn't working out. With family schedule changes, not having any yard at all to horse around in, and living in a busy multi-unit townhouse complex with dogs constantly coming and going, his family is reluctantly looking for a more suitable placement for him. He has been very well cared for, but needs a more suitable place to just "be a dog" and enjoy life, so someone with a secure big yard or property would be ideal. Somewhere he can really enjoy some off leash time to run and play, with a person or family who enjoys his very lovable nature.

Debo needs an active, loving, committed owner who has experience with bully breeds, and he would love to be part of a family with children. Debo could not bear to be left outside away from his owner. His biggest pleasure is to shadow those he is bonded to, and he is happy curling up beside you in whatever room you happen to be in. He just lives for being with his people above all else.

Debo is now in Alberta, however a BC home will be considered. For further information please contact Leanna via e-mail at neosarebest@hotmail.com. Adoption applications can also be submitted through HugABull's website.

COURTESY LISTING - MINNIE

Hi my name is Minnie. I am called that because when I came to the SPCA the girls called me Skinny Minnie & it stuck. I am some type of Pit Bull Boxer cross & am between 2 & 3 years old.

I have put on weight & am a very healthy active girl. I am now fixed & am current on my vaccinations. A volunteer tried to take me home but I did not get a long with her female bully. I enjoyed playing with her but she wanted to be the boss. I have a high prey drive & like to chase cats, etc. I am not sure about small kids in small quarters.

I would love a playful non dominant male dog to play with or maybe an older kid to throw a ball for me.

I know my basic obedience & once I get to know you I want nothing more than to please you.

I do have a sensitive stomach & need to go to a dog experienced home. Like most bullies I love to play, but also love cuddles at the end of the day.

COURTESY LISTING - BRAD

In a perfect world we'd be able to find this guy a responsible handler who knows about his breed. He's a very straightforward dog, with specific needs. His ideal home would be a mature couple with dog handling experience, no cats in the home and no small children to cause a distraction. We want to find someone who's able to spend some time training him and provide the clearly defined guidelines that will make him a wonderful companion. He's not a yard dog or a status symbol.

Brad has the intensity of a young, intelligent, recently-neutered male dog. From what we can tell, he's been loved in his past home, but not necessarily well cared for (he came in loaded with fleas!). We think he's been exposed to many dogs as he seems fine with all of the ones we've introduced him to, even those that are off leash in a dog park. We're accepting applicants for him, but request responsible applicants only. This is our chance to find him the best home we can for the rest of his life.

ADOPTED! - COURTESY LISTING - KILO

Hi my name is Kilo, and I'm a kissaholic!!! I love to cuddle and play! I am a bit shy when I first meet new people but once I know you WATCH OUT!! My favourite thing to do is play with my people. I love people, in fact I live for them!! I favor women over men, but that's because that's all I've been around in my 1 1/2 years! I wiggle my whole body when I greet you in the morning, and when you feed me and even when you just look at me!!

I was originally surrendered because my family had a baby, and said that they couldn't have both...the girls tell me that it's better that I came to them anyways!! Then I got adopted to this wonderful girl who took me home and had other dogs too! I didn't mind them but the one dog didn't like me too much, and we had a few fights. I never started them, but like I was gonna let her bully me!! Eventually it got to be too much for the girl's family and they brought me back to the girls that love me the most! They really want me to get a good home this time, and every night they tell me how lucky and beautiful I am.

I am a 1 1/2 years old and spayed, I have my rabies shot and I'm fully vaccinated!! If you want a cuddly, playful, petite girl, then maybe I'm the one for you!! Please contact the girls at the South Peace SPCA and let them know that you're interested in Kilo!
