Malone
Mellow Malone was the first HugABull dog to be fostered on and adopted out of Vancouver Island. Malone originally came from Prince George, where he was facing a death sentence due only to his breed. He was transferred in his eleventh hour to Vancouver Animal Shelter, and then to Vancouver Island as HugABull's first Island adoptable.
Malone was that rare, special dog that comes around only every so often in the pit bull rescue world. He had beautiful manners, no dog aggression, little or no prey drive, and was entirely sweet and loving, living only to be around his people. He was fostered for a couple of months from October 2006 with a wonderful family, until his forever family came knocking one day in December. Jessica, Don, and their kids Mariah, DJ, and Doug, decided that Malone sounded like the perfect fit for them. Even better, Jessica, a nurse's aide, wanted to fulfill our dream for gentle Malone , by using him as a therapy dog at her work!
It was love at first sight when they met Malone, who bowled them over with exuberant kisses and bugged them to play rope tug with him. When they came to take him to his new home, he trotted happily off as though he had been part of their crew forever, and Jessica reported that same night that Malone had made himself right at home, and was appropriately scared of the resident cat!
